Stylist.AI ("we," "our," or "the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using Stylist.AI, you agree to the practices described below.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly
- Photos: When you add clothing items, you may photograph or upload images. These images may be processed to remove backgrounds and are used to build your digital wardrobe.
- Wardrobe Data: Item details you enter, including categories, colors, brands, sizes, materials, and personal notes.
- Chat Conversations: Messages and prompts you send to the AI stylist when requesting outfit recommendations.
- Style Preferences: Your favorite colors, preferred styles, and other personalization choices provided during onboarding or in your profile.
Information Collected Automatically
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and a randomly generated device identifier used for feedback. We do not collect your Apple ID, phone number, or name.
- Crash Reports: Diagnostic data (stack traces, error messages) to help us improve app stability.
- Location (City-Level, Optional): With your explicit permission, we access your approximate location to provide weather-appropriate outfit recommendations. We only use city-level accuracy and do not track, store, or share precise GPS coordinates.
Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not require you to create an account or sign in.
- We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number.
- We do not use advertising SDKs or tracking pixels.
- We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
2. How Your Data Is Stored
Stylist.AI uses a local-first architecture. This means:
- On-Device Storage: Your wardrobe items, outfit combinations, packing lists, style preferences, and chat history are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This data never leaves your phone unless you use AI features (see Section 3).
- No Cloud Account: Your data is not uploaded to a cloud server or linked to a user account. If you delete the app, your locally stored data is removed permanently.
- Photo Processing: When background removal is needed, photos are temporarily sent to our secure processing server and deleted immediately after processing.
3. AI-Powered Features & Third-Party Data Sharing
Stylist.AI uses artificial intelligence to provide personalized outfit recommendations. Before any data is shared with third-party AI services, you will be asked to provide explicit consent within the app. You can use all non-AI features (wardrobe management, outfits, packing lists) without consenting.
When you consent and use AI features, the following data is shared:
Data Sent to OpenAI
- What: Your chat messages and wardrobe context (item names, categories, colors, brands). No photos are sent to OpenAI.
- Why: To generate personalized outfit recommendations and style advice.
- Retention: Data is processed in real-time via API. See OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
Data Sent to Replicate (via Supabase Edge Function)
- What: Clothing photos you upload, solely for background removal.
- Why: To remove image backgrounds for a cleaner wardrobe display.
- Retention: Photos are processed on-demand and not permanently stored. See Replicate's Privacy Policy.
Data Sent to OpenWeatherMap
- What: Your city-level location (approximate coordinates).
- Why: To fetch current weather conditions for weather-appropriate outfit suggestions.
- Retention: Location data is used for a single weather lookup and is not stored. See OpenWeatherMap's Privacy Policy.
Withdrawing consent: You may withdraw your AI data sharing consent at any time by going to Profile → Clear All Data. This resets your consent, and AI features will require re-consent before use.
4. Other Third-Party Services
We also use the following services to operate the App. These services do not receive your wardrobe data, photos, or chat messages:
- Supabase: Cloud infrastructure for serverless functions (background removal processing only). Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat: Subscription management and in-app purchase validation. RevenueCat receives a device identifier and subscription status — never your wardrobe data. Privacy Policy.
- Apple App Store: Payment processing for subscriptions, handled entirely by Apple.
5. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App
- Process photos for background removal and wardrobe management
- Generate AI-powered outfit recommendations and style advice
- Provide weather-appropriate outfit suggestions based on your location
- Process subscription purchases via Apple and RevenueCat
- Diagnose crashes and technical issues
We do not use your information for advertising, user profiling, or selling to data brokers.
6. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information:
- All network requests use encrypted HTTPS (TLS/SSL) connections
- API keys are securely managed and never exposed to end users
- Third-party services are selected based on their security practices and compliance
- On-device data is protected by your device's built-in security (passcode, biometrics)
No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention & Deletion
Because Stylist.AI stores data locally on your device:
- Your data exists only on your device. We do not maintain copies on our servers.
- To delete all data: Open the App → Profile → scroll to the bottom → tap "Clear All Data." This permanently removes all wardrobe items, outfits, packing lists, AI conversations, and preferences.
- Uninstalling the App also removes all locally stored data.
- Subscription records are managed by Apple and RevenueCat independently of the App.
8. Your Rights & Choices
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access & Portability: All your data is stored on your device and is always accessible to you.
- Deletion: Use "Clear All Data" in the App, or uninstall to delete everything.
- Consent Withdrawal: Withdraw AI data sharing consent at any time via Clear All Data.
- Location: Deny or revoke location permission at any time through your device's Settings.
- Camera & Photos: Deny or revoke access through your device's Settings.

9. Children's Privacy
Stylist.AI is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under the applicable age, we will delete it promptly.
10. Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. Data is shared with third-party services only as described in Section 3 and Section 4 above, and solely to provide the App's core functionality.
11. International Users
Stylist.AI is operated from the United States. If you access the App from outside the United States, your data may be processed in countries with different data protection laws. By using the App, you consent to the transfer and processing of your data as described in this policy.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
